Position Synopsis;
Background information:
As part of the Technical Support team and reporting to the Superintendent Modifications & Small Projects, you will provide mechanical engineering support to the Mining operation. As the Senior Engineer Mechanical you will lead a team to provide advice, technical solutions, and assist with troubleshooting of technical issues.
The key role accountabilities include:
-Ensure a safe workplace through the promotion of safe working practices, safety leadership and implement corrective actions as required.
-Provide the relevant technical knowledge and support to the Maintenance Analysis & Improvement and Production Process Control & Improvement functions.
-Provide the relevant technical knowledge for the development of new projects.
-Ensure any Technical Support services provided to the Operation are cost effective, meet relevant standards and are aligned to designed/agreed operating principles.
-Collaborate with consultants, suppliers, and vendors to ensure their services are provided in accordance to plans, standards, and specifications.
This position will require strong technical and leadership skills while continually promoting operational discipline and high performance in work execution. You will also be expected to enhance the technical knowledge of team members and other employees.
Please note this is a residential position operating on a 5/2 roster arrangement, however an alternative FIFO arrangement may be considered for the right candidate.
Skills & Experience;
To succeed in this role you will have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, coupled with a proven experience in materials handling equipment, ideally in an underground mining environment.
As a leader within the Technical Support team, you're effective mentoring and strong communication skills will be essential to achieve success in this position.
Location;
Located 560 kilometres north of Adelaide, South Australia, Olympic Dam is Australia's largest underground mine, incorporating a complex minerals processing operation, producing copper cathode, uranium oxide concentrate, gold and silver.
This role is based in Roxby Downs, a thriving community of 4,500 people, with the highest standard of infrastructure in roads, buildings and business facilities. An active and progressive administration and community network support it. Roxby Downs is home to a variety of modern, well equipped educational, health, sporting, leisure, shopping and cultural facilities.
