Job Title: Bi-cultural Childcare Worker.
Description;
A Bicultural Support Worker is required by a Childcare Centre to work with children from Aboriginal background. Must have a very good understanding of Aboriginal culture and be able to deliver programs reflective of Aboriginal culture.
Requirements:
-Must have a good command of English. Essential - Must have experience and qualifications in childcare industry.
Duties:-
*Assisting in the initial settling in period of children from culturally and linguistically diverse and refugee backgrounds.
*Provide initial language assistance to children, parents & staff, in order to help families and centres better communicate.
*Introduce the child's culture to the centre by providing culturally appropriate activities such as stories, games, craft, art, dance, traditional costumes, music etc.
*Promote children's self esteem about their cultural heritage.
*Encourage maintenance of, and support the development of, the child's home language. Own transport is preferred but not essential. Travel allowance available. Potential to work up to 20 hours per week. This position is casual on call. Only Applicants With Above Essential Requirements And A Sound Understanding Of Duties Need Apply.
