The Victoria Daly Shire Council became an entity on the 1st July 2008 through the amalgamation of 8 Northern Territory community councils covering an area of 168,000sqkm, an area approximately twice the size of Tasmania. Council's aim is to strengthen its communities with local people delivering shire services to their own communities with the skills and knowledge of their own culture, community and people. The Victoria Daly Shire Council currently has a once in a lifetime opportunity for a Director of Community Operations to join their regional office in Katherine, NT. Based in Katherine and reporting directly to the CEO, you will ultimately be responsible for the one-on-one support of the community based Shire Service Managers for the delivery of local government services across the Shire. The position of Director of Community Operations is also responsible for provision of Agency Services through a team of regional managers and their respective officers. This is a vital role with the Council and it is essential that you have extensive management experience at an executive level and have a proven track record delivering projects on a large scale. Local Government Experience is highly desirable but not mandatory. While you will face diverse new challenges in this role, you will also be rewarded with an attractive remuneration package circa $125k - $133k plus super and a range of excellent benefits including: 38 hour working week (Monday-Friday, generally 8am-4:30pm); 6 weeks annual leave with 17.5% leave loading; 10 days personal leave; Relocation assistance up to $15,000; Salary sacrifice option; and Ongoing professional training, allowing you to maintain or upgrade your qualifications.
