Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre is located in Wacol, Queensland, 20 kilometres south-west of Brisbane city and is Queensland’s largest correctional centre.
The Centre's primary role is to safely secure up to 890 male adult remanded prisoners for the period leading up to, and during, their trials. Most days are very busy with several hundred new receptions arriving and prisoners commuting between the Centre and the courts.
Many prisoners at the Centre complete recognised educational qualifications, gain valuable work skills and begin their long journey turning around chronic health issues and long-term addictions. Following their release, we are proud to report that many former Centre detainees have gone on to establish new careers, secure permanent and ongoing work, and live healthier, happier lives which contribute to broader society.
About the Opportunity
The GEO Group Australia has an opportunity at the Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre for an IT Helpdesk Officer to join the Finance and Administration team to provide support and solutions across the facility.
This role will take on the responsibility of software and hardware maintenance, liaison with the Queensland Corrective Services (QCS), network backups and audits where necessary while complying with strict QCS and GEO policy.
To be successful in this role you will have:
Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide instruction to end users;
A broad understanding of networking systems, SQL servers and windows based software applications;
The ability to prioritise and problem solve issues and queries;
The capability to install new equipment and rebuild or recondition equipment; and
Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience. New Graduates are welcome to apply.
