Job Title: Design Technology Teacher

Duties:
• Attend Chapels, assemblies as required and exercise appropriate supervision
• Participate in annual staff retreat
• Maintain Teacher registration including requirement for 30 hours documented professional learning per year
• Undertake theological study/accreditation processes as required by Lutheran Education Australia including Pathways (all teaching staff) and Equip (for the teaching of Christian Studies). This is generally conducted during the teacher’s own time.
• Participate in Teacher Annual Reviews
• Participate in Staff Development Sessions and Staff Meetings as required
• Participate in Professional Learning Community through coaching/team participation, as required.

Collaborative Learning:
• Participate in collaborative planning meetings as required (normally during scheduled release time and after school)
• Maintain a safe and orderly classroom and out-of-class environment and apply the College’s Behaviour Management and Restorative Practices guidelines.
• Use the principles of Matthew 18 and Restorative Practices to resolve conflicts with other staff, volunteers and/or parents

Community Contribution:
• Participate in at least one aspect of the co-curricular program of the College
• Maintain current First Aid certificate if required by role
• Attend to duties such as yard and sport supervision punctually and diligently
• Participate in year level/subject excursions and camps
• Attend whole school and P&F functions e.g. Presentation Night, Fete as required
• Participate in parent-teacher interviews, information nights, expos etc as required.
• If required to supervise sport, maintain an acceptable level of understanding or preferably coaching of the sport.
• Where appropriate incorporate service-learning into school learning experiences.

Complex/Creative Thinking:

• Meet College requirements for unit and lesson planning, work programs, scope and sequence charts within the required timeframe
• Meet College requirements for assessment, examinations, reporting and evaluation
• Meet College and legal requirements for students with special needs
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge and application of Queensland Studies Authority processes and guidelines
• Submit new and amended QSA work programs within the required time frame

Selection criteria:
• Evidence of active involvement in a Christian denomination and/or ability to support the Christian ethos of the College, including its worship and devotional program.
• Demonstrated personal and interpersonal skills that foster effective learning partnerships with parents and other staff.
• Demonstrated ability to develop warm, caring relationships with students while maintaining a positive, focused learning environment. An understanding of the particular needs of young people and demonstrated skills in meeting these needs in the context of the classroom and in pastoral care groups.
• Demonstrated use of a range of effective learning strategies to ensure the needs of all students in the classroom are met. Evidence of a personal commitment to continuous self-evaluation and lifelong learning.
• Demonstrated skills in and understanding of the development and implementation of work programs and units of work for senior subjects to ensure high standards of learning occur. Familiarity with current QSA syllabuses and Vocational Education elements (if relevant). Experience with QSA Panel processes of monitoring and review will be preferred. The ability to integrate the use of information technology into learning will be an advantage.
• Demonstrated skills needed to support the College’s co-curricular program.
• Demonstrated levels of confidence, flexibility, initiative, perseverance and resourcefulness necessary to contribute to a learning community which values teamwork and teacher leadership.
• Demonstrated skills and appropriate qualifications to fulfill the roles outlined in the Specific Requirements for the position.
