We have a UI Developer position open in our Web Applications team. The Web Applications team develops and maintains a number of products that provide external interfaces into Computershare's systems. These products are available 24 hours, 7 days a week and are integrated to approximately 30 back-end systems globally.
The UI Developer position is responsible for building high quality front-end features for Computershare and its associated products. The UI Developer will work closely with UX designers, software developers and testers to achieve this outcome within an agile software development framework.
The Position;
It is the UI Developer's responsibility to deliver and maintain global styles, plus web and accessibility standards. This role is part of a broader team of specialist software developers working to deliver high quality Web applications that provide an exceptional customer experience.
The key responsibilities of this role include (but are not limited to):
-Elegantly implement page designs in standards-compliant CSS, HTML5 and Javascript
-Assist in web interaction design best practices with a focus on consistency and usability
-Work closely with domain developers and back-end developers to find ways to use Web technologies in creating the best possible user experience
-Create rapid prototypes of interfaces to be used as a blueprint for content and technical development
The Candidate;
The UI Developer is focussed on web user interface design, development and testing activities.
The successful candidate will have the following skills and attributes:
-Proven design and development experience on large scale, complex web-based application development
-Strong HTML, JavaScript (AJAX, DOM, JSON) and CSS experience
-User Interfacing knowledge
-Strong experience in Microsoft Visual Studio and TFS
-Knowledge of Microsoft web technologies
-Knowledge of web and mobile interface development
In addition, to be successful in this role you must have:
-Experience with the full SDLC (Agile and Waterfall)
-Experience in developing new systems via large, complex projects (preferable)
-Knowledge of accessibility standards and ability to ensure development meets standards
-Knowledge of secure coding practices and ability to deliver secure code
-An understanding of web performance and optimization
-Strong work ethic
-Very strong sense of pride in quality of own work
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Strong team-oriented attitude
-Natural inclination to share and collaborate
-Diligent and persistent
Desired experience:
-Knowledge of Microsoft software architectures (eg. ASP.NET MVC framework)
-Prototyping techniques
-Knowledge of image manipulation tools such as Photoshop
