Responsibilities:

• Promoting and modeling best teaching practice
• Examining ways to engage teachers in a process of active learning and teaching
• Ensuring learning and the assessment of the learning is the priority for teachers and students
• Ensuring teachers have access to opportunities for learning more at a deeper level
• Ensuring dedicated time is given to teachers to communicate with each other about their teaching and student learning
• Actively participating in and supporting team teaching and student learning
• Encouraging teachers to keep up with new and/or innovative methods and materials for classroom instruction
• Encouraging teachers to try new or different techniques and strategies
• Informing and educating all stakeholders as to the goals of their team and the strategies being used to implement and address those goals
• Heads of Learning shall be educational leaders who promote the success of all students by facilitating the development, articulation and implementation of the John Paul College Strategic Vision advocating, nurturing, and sustaining a John Paul College culture and learning program conducive to the learning needs of students at all year levels
• Leading teaching staff to improve their teaching through observations, coaching, data conversations and appropriate reflections.
• Instigating and promoting successful staff professional growth
• Proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and consistently reflecting on past actions to guide future decisions.
• Ensuring all teachers on their team are provided with resources for a safe, efficient and effective learning environment
• Collaborating with families and community members, responding to diverse community interests and needs, and mobilizing community resources acting with integrity, fairness and in an ethical manner
• The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of existing curriculum together with the ability to provide innovative learning experiences.
