Job Description;

-A rare and challenging vacancy exists for an experienced Chemist to join the Analytical Laboratory at the Kwinana Nickel Refinery.  Reporting to the Chief Chemist the key accountabilities of this position include:
-To maintain and develop laboratory Safety, Environment, Quality and Production standards
-Training and mentoring of other team members
-Maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment to ensure results are accurate and reported on time
-Operation and optimisation of ICPOES, AAS, GC, Eltra/Leco and titration equipment
-QA/QC for shipment and process analysis samples
-Perform non-routine duties and project work as directed
-Liaising with numerous internal and external parties to ensure contractual and production requirements are met.
-Provide coverage for the laboratory team leader on occasion.

Skills and Requirements;

-To be successful in this role you will have formal qualifications in Chemistry with significant relevant laboratory experience and ideally exposure to a supervisory role. You must be familiar with using a variety of laboratory equipment and systems inclusive of ICPOES, AAS, GC and automatic titration equipment and will have highly developed computing skills, particularly with LIMS.  Previous exposure to ICPOES commissioning and/or operation would be highly regarded.  In addition you will have highly developed problem solving and decision-making skills and a planned and structured approach to your work.
-On a personal level your outstanding communication and interpersonal skills will allow you to effectively assist to develop a specialist laboratory team. You will also have the ability to communicate and develop strong business relationships with

Location - Nickel West Kwinana
Located 30 kilometres south of the Perth, the Nickel West Kwinana produces nickel briquettes and nickel powder.
